1975 Range Rover Classic

Early Range Rovers combine capability, comfort and understated charisma in a way that no car has matched since.

They defined SUVs for generations to come

This rare example has exceptional provenance. This vehicle served as my grandfather’s beloved coffee farm truck since it rolled off the factory floor. The Range Rover Classic has had extensive work both mechanically and cosmetically carried out to refurbish a growingly rare icon. A few light jobs remain but can be enjoyed as is… or taken even further.

Almost 50 years young

The Range Rover was a pioneer, a class statement, and downright gorgeous, just ask the Royals. It combined a lightweight Buick-derived Rover V8, with a rock-solid steel chassis so it had durability and power in spades. It drives great too, thanks to simple yet advanced running gear; coil springs and disc brakes on all four corners were virtually unheard of in the early 1970s, not to mention the self-leveling device to keep the vehicle poised when towing or heavily loaded.

Back then, off-road, nothing could match it. On-road it was supreme. Then there was that elegant shell, mostly aluminum over a steel frame, and the elegant interior. Not opulent or bling – just comfy for all.

The earliest Suffix A cars (1970–1972) are the most sought after option for the ultimate in classic cache and are in the 6 figures, but other Suffix models (1973-1977) give better bang for your buck and strut the 2-door iconic look. They’re extremely similar, so you get the same driving experience without paying quite so heavily for the privilege and still quite rare.

Range Rover Classics (RRC) went through a rough patch in the 2000s, and many were damaged at off-road sites or were simply parted out in pieces when rust took over. It’s a very different situation now, and most collector attention is focused on these early Suffix models.
